Two Tales to TellA Poem by NotchHero
She waits,
Sitting on her bed, Watching the sunrise, Thinking of all of the pain he caused. She sleeps in fits, Not because she can't, Because she doesn't want to. Without him, sleep seems pointless. He waits, Sitting on his bed, Watching the demons dance around his head, Trying to find a way through the darkness. He sleeps in fits, Not because he can't, Because he doesn't want to. Without her, his dreams darken, Twisting into nightmares. She thinks of him, Wonders how he's doing, Wonders if he's going to be okay in life. He thinks of her, Wonders how she's doing, Wonders if she's really hurting at all. They never realize, In all of their moments, That they are both suffering the same. I told him, That if he really cared, He needed to say it, Before it was too late. He feared it already was, Yet he still took a chance, And when he knocked on her door, He began down the path to trying to make it right. He told me he knew, Knew that it would never be perfectly restored, But he also knew that he had to try if he could get back even a sliver of what they had. She told me, That she still cared, She just didn't say it, Because she'd said it for too long. She feared she never could again, Yet something made her want to try, And when he knocked on her door, She began to wonder if he could make it right. She told me she knew, He was always an amazing person, She just didn't understand why he never saw that. The truth, I found, Was that he did see it, But only in certain moments. He wanted to believe he was capable of good, But all he ever seemed to do was run away. I only hope he can see, Just how good he can be. I know she can see, Just how good they can be.
