Dirge of the GreeksA Poem by NotchHero
Apollo,
Give us the powers, That allow you to weave, Such tapestries, Using only words. Athena, Give us the powers, That allow you to create, Such plans, That never fail. Zeus, Give us the powers, That allow you to be heard, From afar, With perfect clarity. Hades, Gives us the powers, That allow you to judge the soul, So fair, Without bias. Hestia, Give us the powers, That allow you to welcome, Any who call, With no regrets. Dionysus, Give us the powers, That allow you to let go, Regardless of surroundings, Of anything at all. Poseidon, Give us the powers, That allow you to shake, All the world, And remind all of us. Ares, Give us the powers, That allow you to survive, Against all odds, In any region. Aphrodite, Give us the powers, That allow you to see, Just who belongs with who, And why they are beautiful. Artemis, Give us the powers, That allow you to be aloof, For so long without contact, And to keep your vows. Hera, Give us the powers, That allow you to receive, With open arms, Any member of family. Hephaestus, Give us the powers, That allow you to be crafty, Both with your hands, And your plans. Hermes, Give us the powers, That allow you to deliver, News, both good and bad, With such grace and speed. Give us these powers, And you shall see, That maybe, Just maybe, We are not what you thought we were, Or maybe you will see that we are.
