My Other Lives

My Other Lives

A Poem by NotaRabbit19

He killed my father and came for me
But he didn't get that far
My mother died instead of me
And I got this lightning scar.

They drew her name but she's only 12
Easy prey for a Career!
There's one way to protect her so
"I volunteer!"

We had our small infinity
Though dead, with me he'll stay.
My lungs are weak but my heart is strong
To the stars I whisper. "okay."

My breath steadies and my heartbeat slows.
The final page arrives.
I put the book on a growing pile.
My stack of other lives...

Start is pretty dark. It's make reader think who is this author behind those words. You make reader wonder and guess there is lot of mystery and heavy emotions in nice flow. And on the end We realize is was just book in your hands and minds. Probably this idea was write before so many times. But in your poem is feel quiet fresh.
