My First Book Will Be Title The Same As My Life Motto

My First Book Will Be Title The Same As My Life Motto

A Poem by Anna Sandy

I always figured, if I broke my ankles, I could at least sit down and write.

The only sport I need to play is trying to be alright.

I can fool any head doctor, as logical as they come

Growing up with a nasty step-father, I learned to bite my tongue.

The truth is though, I don’t need that kind of help.

Because I’d never be okay if I didn’t do it by myself.

Some say that it’s a setback, to carry all this pride

But I could never think that"plus, I’ve managed to get by.

I’ve had a couple angels, and I’ve known some demons too

"I think I could love anyone that doesn’t keep me from the truth.

Not too great at making plans but I’m always on the move

Not too great at making plans but I’m always chasing you.

I’ve never known anyone to take me for what I am

"like there’s more to what I’m holding than what is in my hands.

But I’ll keep on moving, because I meet them one by one

I’m not out there chasing smiles, I’m out there chasing fun.

So if I ran a couple circles, and you’re not sure what I’ll do

I hope you send me love because I’m coming back to you.

I know I’m not too great with vulnerability

I could keep you on your feet"if you could keep up with me.

The world is a playground, it’s a racetrack, it’s my home

and my love is where I lay my head down, wherever I may roam.
