Top of the LineA Poem by NotAboutMeA Poem about my CarTop of the Line A top of the line, celebrity ride With a GPS, Ipad, and cell phone inside Fine leather interior, with nice heated seats My car was certainly not one of these
A classic muscle car, with horse power to spare An overhead cam, and a posi-track rear Big fat slick tires, on shiny chrome rims Wasn’t my car either, as it had no fine trim
A big monster truck, with a set of dual stacks With fog lights and high lights, on specialty racks Running boards and accessories, packed to the gills My car most certainly, had none of these frills
My little car was an economy ride Not much to look at, and not much inside To me it was nothing more than a car Though I had it a while, and I drove it quite far
Then came the day when I traded it in And I realized I’d never see it again As I gathered together the rest of my junk And for the very last time, closed the lid on the trunk
Like life passing before me, I could suddenly see That the little red car, had meant so much to me It had taken my wife and I, cross country twice And to so many places, that were so very nice
To weddings and birthdays, to funerals and wakes And all it ever asked for, was a set of new brakes Of course I was happy, to buy a new ride
(But As I said goodbye to the little red car for the very last time, And thought about the wonderful memories inside)
While walking away, I just could have just cried © 2016 NotAboutMe |
