These Wonderful Pets

These Wonderful Pets

A Poem by Carl J Johnson
"

Some thoughts of a man thinking of the time when he was a little boy.

"
When I was just a little lad,
my life was great, not gray or sad.
My closest friend, brown Teddy Bear,
what could I do without him there?

Among the toys that lay around,
there was one little, made no sound,
a rag doll, threadbare, not so new,
but loved so much by quite a few.

A princess, sweetest of them all,
she had a terrifying fall,
chopped down above from shelves so high
and broke so fast, we heard no sigh.

I had a dream, above them all,
a pet to cuddle and to call,
a puppy`s love is what we need,
a friend to care for and to feed.
