Dinner date with the shamen Lizard King

In my friend's dream world, Jim Morrison's round for tea

A mind-blowing trip, in the best of company

She's artistic herself, alluring sensual soul

So Mr Mojo Risin will see her as a goal

Jim used to say drugs are a bet with your mind

Intriguing proposition my friend might find?

He sought to free his soul through full-on drugs and sex

Derangement of the senses without any checks

His mission in life - free the soul by extremes

Concerned for my friend if engulfed in such dreams!

Sensual awakening through drugs, risk and fear

Tragic premature death made his genius clear

Yet that's poetic justice, as he always loved to shock

Opened doors to enlightenment, in race against the clock

Death, his pain reliever, gave him wings smooth as raven's claws

His words gave us possibilities, opening up more doors

It's strange we fear death, when life hurts so much more

But people are strange, and Jim knew the score

True friends give total freedom - to feel or not to feel

As guides to our true selves, my friend and Jim help us heal

A friend asked me to write her a poem about her dream of having Jim Morrison round for tea. Hope I did some sort of justice to her and the great man? Honest reviews eagerly awaited.

I think Jim would have loved this, if he wasn't escaping reality. It's a lovely poem filled with nice insights into the world. I'll have to re-read this one many times, I just know it. Challenge met, I hope your friend likes it.

This was a very good tribute to both Jim Morrison and your friend. I would be very happy if this was about me. Good job on it. I'm rather impressed.

Interesting. That's for sure. Sounds like a poem about a persons (Jim) who likes to life on the edge. (like in a Charlie Sceen kind of way) Ironic too, I like the point of "It's strange we fear death, when life hurts so much more" That can so be true. But I guess then it's wear you're going where you die! =) God job! keep writing.

Here it is! And well worth the wait I might add! You did a bang-up job on this my friend. I'm approving, and I think your friend and Jim will too.
