Peace on Our Terms

Peace on Our Terms

A Poem by Norman T

PEACE ON OUR TERMS
Yes, we can live in peace, as long as I am in control.
You mediate, but can only hear your conscience
That's the voice of your God.
You talk of compromise, but then you kill our sons.
Your fireballs will sterilise our cities.
So when your mediator speaks, he must be silenced
In the name of our God.
Yes, we could compromise, when you're willing to concede
That if you're partly right, then I'm not wholly wrong.
That's the voice of reason.
But guided by our prejudice, we still avenge our sons,
With reason deafened by the voice
Of our entrenched beliefs.

But, what of those final moments
When all our strengths have gone
Will we then hear a voice that whispers.........
......."I am the sound of Peace".

About
I enjoy humour and satire, as my writing style,as I can have a legitimate moan about things without depressing my readers ( or myself). I like to appreciate other writer's efforts, but rarely offer.. more..
