1:20am - Midnight Warrior Writers: Quarantine Edition

A Poem by Brandon

Emptiness - this hollow shell.
Fuel ignited, contained deep within this hell.
Yearning - a burning I cannot escape;
One lousy kiss, and it's a sealed fate.
Love - passions driven mad.
A raging inferno rising beyond -
Pitched under this immense heat,
Escape is a price all too steep.
Give me water, or room to draw breath,
Just one moment to clear my head.
But in your arms, I feel it grow -
An apathy that's beginning to show.
Distain against the place you call home.
Emptiness, eveloped in reductive energy -
Fanning the dying embers candidly.

A poem wrought with feeling and churning emotions. Quite enjoyable to read. A fine example of writing in the wee after midnight hours. Thanks for sharing.
