Rebirth

Rebirth

A Poem by NormaZ
"

Spring is coming with all its chores and magnificence

"

Like a red stop sign to winter,

red taillights breaking fast,

I saw the red blur of a cardinal.

He punched his way through

the still sleeping grass,

and the black fingers of the

waiting to be resurrected buds

on the shrubs and trees.

All I saw was the rakes,

the pruning shears,

the wheelbarrow with the

squeaking wheel,

the dead leaves of the

hosta, the iris, the mat

of maple leaves.

Raking through I disturbed

a rabbit’s nest, and

out ran five baby rabbits,

and like Lazarus, coming to life

the shoots of crocus,

the daffodils,

the tulips.

Nice Work - and really well controlled how you introduce each element of the scenario. Like the Lazarus reference as well. Excellent ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️

A lovely cosy, visual poem about spring. And gardening.
Can I ask that you help my poor old eyes as well Norma and use a bigger font. Thankyou.

Thank you Ken, will do!
Ahh gardening and dressing up flower beds and the yard as spring begins to unfold and show new life sprouting all around from tulips to baby bunnies

Winter for me is cold and desolate. I much prefer spring through fall with all its life and colors
Spring is the season of new beginnings and hope, thank goodness nature re-births itself after dull, dark days . Something to look forward to and be thankful for .... i love your imagery, thinking of rakes and pruning shears to clear the old debri away and encourage new life.

Be a midwife Norma and think of it as encouraging the spring babies to birth.. :)
A gentle telling of Life's generosity: using sight, sound.. experiencing gentle and grateful emotions for what is in your all around, NormaZ. Your writing is beautiful - my lullaby for this coming night. Many thanks, dear lady.

This reminds me so much of William Carlos Williams...you paint a scene on one hand, on the other you are showing us the tools, the scene of the coming spring, the changing seasons....and all of these aesthetics pointing to the turn of the page on the calendar.
Nicely done,
j.
