What is hope?

What is hope?

A Poem by CoraZanini

Hope
Truly,man's worst enemy
It puts you down when you're on the top
A sister of expectations,a close relative to dissapointment
Hope
The one to blame, when it hurts so badly you can feel it through your whole body
Tears crashing,blood screaming
But then again
Hope
Truly,man's best friend
It puts you up when you're at the bottom
A sister of patience,a close relative to success
Hope
The one to look for when you're at your lowest, when you need a hand at getting of your knees
Joy rushing,heart beating
So it goes in circles

NonameRa, English may be your third or fourth language, but you have conveyed the message, with an ease, I know, I couldn't do with French or Russian, both languages, I have studied. Just for that I applaud your effort and style. Any English based word processing program's spell checker will clear up the misspellings. You can find some, on-line.

Wow,chitra dhara thank you so much:)
Dear Cora it is an eye_opener for all the way you describe the family. And the essence of hope!
Both the sides of the coin and in different situation and having diverse effects...
Thank you for this lovely write

You did a fab job nonetheless, meaning your english. I really liked this piece. Yes, it can be wonderful to the spirit or damaging to the heart and soul.

Thank you so much!
There are ironies in the first 2 verses I think because of some failures when someone expects too much.

Hope requires patience. I like the comparison...the other way hope was described.

It's still optimistic in the end. Thanks for the share.

I noticed the hesitancy with the English usage but I think you've done a good job on this. You have conveyed an insightful message that broadens the idea that hope can either be destructive of redeeming. However, I think that hope is 'good' in nature. It is the unrealistic and unhealthy expectations that get us into trouble. Anyway, good elaboration of key points...effective ending lines... But I have a minor issue with the spelling of 'dissapointment'. It should be 'disappointment'.

Thank you on your review,I'm trying to work on my english skills and every critique is helpful!
Great structure, love the symmetry reflecting the two periods of the cycle of hope. What wounds can also heal, what burns can also cool. Well done :)

Not bad, it is true that hope can inspire and cause despair as well, but as they say 'Hope dawns eternal'.

Nice poem.
