I must tell a story 

A story must be told in such dialogue

But I am sorry my story is told in peotry

My story is painted in such way it may not make sense

Started when a girl was young

They were never wanted 

Always tossed around

Mother left them to die

Father came 

Father went to prision

Mother still not found

Girl grew a bit more

Father married a woman

Woman took care of girl

Father drunk and high

Father divorce woman

Father never caring 

Father dating bad girls

Father bringing brother home

Brother doesn't like it here

Brother takes bb gun

Brother shoots girl

Girl runs to room hiding

Girl sneaks out at night

Father comes home more often drunk

Brother steals bottle

Brother drunk and hits

Girl runs away for two days

Girl comes back 

Father hits

Father doesn't care

Girl finds knife

Girl finds pills

Girl finds bandages

Girl finds long sleaves

Father sees, goes back to t.v

Brother to messed up

Brother barges in room

Brother pins girl

Girl crys

Girl leaves home for a week

Father doesn't notice

Mother come back 

Mother is here

Mother to messed up with friends

Finds out mother went to prision again

The cuts get deeper

Father brings home bad girl

Bad girl plays with girl's feelings

Girl feels manipulated

Father leaves girl with friend

Years go by Friend isn't good

GIrl is scarred head to toe

Mother is out 

Mother comes get girl

Girl leaves father

Girl doesn't talk to brother

Girl doesn't talk to father

Years go by

Girl talks to father

Father is sad

Father is sorry

Father wants to be a father

Father is clean

Mother is clean

Two little brothers

A little sister 

Sister is girls world

Brothers and mother don't know what happened

Sister listens as she sleeps

Sister is protected 

Girl loves her

GIrl wants good childhood for sister

Girl does anything for sister

Brothers don't know 

They hurt girl

Girl hides emotion

Girl is there for sister

Mothers husband

Quick to anger

Mothers husband doesn't show emotion

Girl stays out of way of mothers husband

Mothers husband is father of sister

No other child is his

Girl trys to stay strong

She is strong for her sister

She lockes her mind down

She is there always for sister

It is a sad tale this writing tells. We all recognize a change is needed but from whom and from where? I say that change has to come from all of us and if we don't change there will never be change. Your piece points out a serious problem facing our society.

Girl so interrupted... Nomo your story/poem is heart-rending, and so personal. I read the brilliant, brief, staccato, gunshots of lines, that were written by someone who lived in fear of talking, in fear of living with danger around every corner expected and unexpected. I understand this. I went through this. I too have scars. Great form and style. Direct and dramatic but not extra- just real. It touched me very deeply. You deserve all blessings for climbing out of your horrific prison in order to care for and show love to your little sister- such a difficult stretch for someone who has never received love. You have talent. You have heart. You have courage. I appreciate you. The world is better for having you in it. Brava! Please keep writing and please be good to yourself always.

Damn...this was...intense...
If this story's about you, I'm so sorry about your childhood! I used to cut, too. But I feel I was never in as bad a situation as you. But "Barleygirl" said to not compare abuse, because abuse it abuse, no matter how it happened, it's still abuse. And I'm sorry you had to go through that. I think it's amazing how you care for your sister like she were your own daughter.
