As I read your poem chock full of intense feeling & imagery, I was taken on a journey to this desperate world, invisible among the throngs. I love your use of "mask" as a place to hide. I've heard some say they'll go on wearing a mask after getting vaxxed, becuz they like hiding behind a mask, now that it's become routine. Your poem mentions a lack of friends, as if friends ever really do share one's pain . . . a little optimistic, in my view. It's easier to be alone where we don't have to wear a mask or parade cheerfulness or fake hope. Your poem shows my view that life & people are mostly miserable & the art comes in finding ways to work thru it anyway (((HUGS)))
very powerful statement in this poem and I feel it speaks for many during these difficult times we live in. Do those that know of us truly know us? At times we all wear a mask to hide our true selves for it is a form of self preservation our hearts yearn for. To stave away the pain of heartache or the possibility of it. Thank you for sharing your poem.
