Blue Eyed Girl

Blue Eyed Girl

A Poem by NoireWriter
"

*TRIGGER WARNING* depression, self hate, etc. This is a poem about a girl struggling with depression.

"
There was this blue eyed girl
Twelve years old
She wrote a poem about her Prince Charming.
She wrote about his personality,
She wrote about how he'd sweep her off her feet.
It's going to be like the Disney movies she decided
She's be somewhere as a damsel in distressed
She signed it with a kiss.
stuck it under her pillow and closed her eyes.

There was this blue eyed girl,
Sixteen years old
She wrote a poem about heart break
She swore all men were the same
She sneered at the Disney princess she once loved.
Here she was a damsel in distress,
But no one to save her today.
People laughed as she cried.
The day she first lied to herself.
Unworthy she wrote to describe herself.
Signed it with a tear.
She stuck it under her pillow and shut her heart off as she went to sleep.

There was this blue eyed girl
Eighteen years old.
She wrote a poem about life
Nothing ever was as it seemed
She wrote of divorce, lust and pain.
She described the razors on her skin,
She drew out the imagery of the rain.
She scribbled on that little notebook with her poems of past.
She explained that life wasn't what a child believes.
No one places kisses on her bloodied knees.
This blued eyed girl's thighs sting with hatred.
She signed her poem with a bloody stain slice.
She shoved her notebook under her pillow and bruised her mind with lies until she passes out in nightmares.

There once was a blue eyed girl,
She too old for her age.
She never got to write a poem about being okay,
She never was okay.
The grey skies mourn in the loss of her.
She still breathes and everyone thinks she's fine.
This blue eyed girl watches her favourite Disney princess and pretends to dream about that happy ending.
This blue eyed girl laughs
She shows everyone how strong she is
Proving to herself, she's but a charade.
Because when she looks into that shattered mirror she keeps hidden under her pillow.
she finds her once blue eyes have turned grey.

Very beautiful, very sad. You have captured the feeling wonderfully, and the poem progresses very well, and almost tells a story as you read through it. You can almost see this blue eyed girl in all her sadness and i think that is one of the reasons it makes this poem so effective. Well done.

This is unlike any other poem I've read on here. Very different and I like it!

At first, I was questioning why you particularly used a blue eyed girl, but the last stanza in your poem showed the point. You sealed it very nice.

Beautiful job.

Your poetry is very good. You took the reader into sweet dreams and hope that turned into sadness and loneliness. I liked how you led the reader the strong closure . Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
