Empty HomeA Poem by NoelDressaryHave you ever missed someone so badCame in on a rainy thursday
The trees slouched their lazy limbs The plants withered in their pots Not even the tulips would crack a smile As I drag my bag off my shoulders A sound reaches in for my heart I thought I heard you talking softly I turned on the lights Dashed across the flat In foolish hope I called out for you But still no answer did I find The soft pitter patter of the rain Filling these empty walls Ashen light from clouded skies Slowly fading away Color has gone from this world Out the window it ran away Left me in the ruins of my mind I glanced over at the chair by the window Only there was no one there anymore No warm eyes staring back at me In solitary silence I lose myself again In joyous dreams of The days before you left I see the fire in the sky See the stars around me I hear the passion in your voice Hear you softly breathing I feel the warmth on my back Feel your arms around me As you caress and reassure me Lightning interrupts my thoughts Callously prompting my tears Thunder slaps and rattles my ears Thrashing my head with painful memory Memories of how you lost me Or how I lost you Life cares not for love or chivalry Nor does the sun rise at my command So my heart will have to fight To stand to live in this empty home © 2015 NoelDressaryFeatured Review
