In The NightA Poem by NoelDressaryAs another night
Passes thee by I stare into the heavens Hoping that someone Will hear my lonely cry My friend, You know next to none of this For the metal door Behind which I so carelessly Hide my soul Is indeed thick and firm You pay no mind to this door For you my friend, This door means nothing. “Not my business” you tell yourself You leave it at that Assuming nothing remains to decide The nights are long The nights are cold Those dreary, lonely nights Still no one hears No one hears As to the heavens I cry My friend, The nights are cruel There are no dreams No pleasure remains My tormented soul Cries out to thee One night I find the end The end of the journey A one way ticket Out of this torment Away from this life But my dear friend The price of freedom is steep Too steep it seems Too steep even for I To allow such a silent sacrifice And so for my mother’s sake My soul carries on © 2015 NoelDressaryFeatured Review
