Drag Me Down with You

Drag Me Down with You

A Poem by Shannon
"

A song I wrote a couple of months about my ex step-Grandfather. It has a tune; I can hear it so well in my head!

"
Why
Did you ever pick me?
I
Never thought you would
Put lace around my ankles
Red ribbon lash marks down my back
Rings like shackles
'Round my fingers
A snare of pearls around my neck
And if I held your
Malignant heart inside my fist
I'd wring it out
And drink you down, down, down
You'd always be a part of me

So take a shard
Of broken mirror
And drag it down my wrist
Share your luck
For another year
It always ends like this
My blood drips down, down, down
Like it always does when you're around

I would lock you
In a closet
I would swallow
Up the key
Seal you tight in-
Side a barrel
And roll you out to sea
And you'd sink down, down, down, down
Til no one you loved
Was left around
Yeah you'd sink down, down, down, down
And you'd be lonely
As lonely as you made me.
