But How?

But How?

A Poem by Nocturnal_One
"

Separation of relations between my ex and I.

"

I was told to just cut them out of my life.

But how could I do that when I wake up and hear their voice echoing through the walls,

when I can feel the cold of their hands on my palm,

when I close my eyes and see them smiling,

hear their laughter.

The last place I can look is my heart, but they have that too.

you are the king on a chair

This was a short poem but it really carried an emotional impact. I like how you keep referring back to imagery of your loved one; it adds a dark, reflective mood to the piece, especially the phrase "voice echoing through the walls." The last line was my favorite because it really summed up all the pain you felt. It's kinda cliche, but at the same time, it's poignant. I think anyone who has gone through a breakup can relate to this. Well done.
