At First a Word, Now a DreamA Poem by Nocturnal_OneSomeone I used to talk to told me about a night on top of a mall rooftop, but they were alone, I wrote a poem so that we could both be there.I was sitting on the edge, gazing upon her, as she gazed upon the stars. Nothing to be heard, but the silence in the air. We stood up, turned around, to see the world behind us. Our eyes aligned as the stars in the sky. Her lips widened as her face brightened. We closed our eyes and let go of our feet. I let go of my worries, my fears, everything…except her. As we fell from the rooftop, it felt as if I was finally awake. As if someone had blown the dust off of an old forgotten mirror. It was her breath. Her wings sprouted like the petals of a Black Dahlia. As she lifted us into the sky, I saw nothing but the moon and a single star. © 2016 Nocturnal_OneAuthor's Note
