Broken Mirrors

Broken Mirrors

A Poem by Nick

All of us, simple mirrors to reflect the truth

We see what we desire even if it is untruth

Sometimes we break others and sometimes we are broken

In the end all that matters is this lost token

The eyes lead to the heart and soul, the mirror of our self

So it is through someone else’s eyes that we find our wealth

A broken mirror I was and have become

Cannot take back or change the things I have done

Seclusion seems the only choice to remain

But in the end everything is just the same

I will look into my mirror and pray that what I see is true

But I know now that it cannot be with you

So here I sit pondering the meaning of this all

Into the rabbit-hole I’ve stumbled, and it’s a long, long fall

Shattered into a thousand bits, unable to reassemble

In my broken frame of shards I shall ever tremble

I can’t see light in the dark of this shattered glass

And so here I come to this pitiful impasse

I will struggle, probably in vain to move on and grow

Will it be worth? In the end, I may never know

It's very interesting, at times it seems dark, at times it seems hopeful...I sometimes wonder if, like me, you put poetry into what you yourself are thinking.

i always enjoy mirror metaphors. they reflect the deeper truths that we overlook in our day to day lives.
