Coma

Coma

A Poem by Rosette Jewel

it was as though
barbed wire
surrounded that emotional manifestation
the cold metal protected
your infatuation
that frigid chamber; your heart
the past half a year
it bared no crack of warmth,
it's so easy
to toss your verbal insurances
like an old doodle into the rubbish bin
apparently a good f**k
does not require such things
the moments
where our words halted
because our mouths
conveyed our connection
so much better when they pressed against each other
were not a necessity to
you
one can assume the connection
wasn't either

like a coma patient,
I awake to a new world of confusion
I am useless in these new surroundings

the long-haired cynic
of deception has called for you
and you answer with
open arms
two liars, you are perfect

like I have slept for a million days,
you have gotten over me
in just four
and now I cannot sleep
until I tire from heartbreak in the morning
past four.
