Searching For Mayumi

On the way to the Nakamura residence, the girls listened to Tokyo FM and chatting. Megami and Osana were studying for an upcoming test, but Aya and Mina were just chatting about random things. Suddenly, Ayano turns down the radio. She speaks softly "Aya, I have some good news for you." Aya looks up from her drawing, and asks with excitement in her voice "Really Ayano? What is it? Please tell me." As Mrs. Yamada stops at a stop light, she takes a deep breath. "Aya, I'm adopting you and your sister, Hanako. I heard about the tragedies you girls went through, and I want to help you get back on your feet. I want to provide you and Hanako a nice home with a nice family so you can forget about the tragedies that happened." Aya puts her pen down, and covers her mouth in shock. She did not expect to hear that, and she honestly thought that Ayano had a lead in the cases or something like that. "Oh my goodness Megami! We're going to be sisters!" she exclaimed as she picked up her pen again. Megami put down her textbook, and exclaimed "Yay girl! That's awesome." Later, the girls arrive at Kentaro's house. As the girls got out of the car, Megami exclaims gracefully. "Listen to the beautiful sound of birds chirping and feel the nice cool breeze the wind provides." Everyone gave each other a high five, and continued walking up to the door. Ayano walked up the steps, and rang the door bell. "Coming!" A voice said quickly. After a few seconds, someone answered the door. The man who answered the door was tall with black hair and blue eyes. "Hello Ayano, come on in!" He said gracefully as he let the girls in. "Remember to take off your shoes before entering the rest of the house." Kentaro added quickly. The girls took their shoes off, and began walking into the kitchen. As Ayano took out her notes, Kentaro began to ask "Would you girls like to have anything to drink? Water? Juice? Vanilla Pepsi? Mountain Dew?" The girls quickly responded to the question, and they requested vanilla Pepsi. Once everyone had a beverage, Kentaro sat down to hear what Ayano had to say about the cases. "Okay Kentaro, here's the cases. we will first talk about Osoro's accident since that case has recently been closed. When Osoro was trying to park in her driveway, a boy who attends Yanamikarah High School crashed right into her car because he was texting and driving. Due to his aggressiveness towards the police who questioned him, he has been locked up for..." Suddenly, they hear a bang coming from Yoshiko's room. "Just give me a few seconds please." Kentaro tells the girls as he gets up to investigate the sound. When Kentaro entered his eight year-old daughter's room, he made a unremarkable discovery. He saw his daughter's Xbox controller laying by the wall. It appeared to be broken in half. Yoshiko was sitting on her bed with her arms crossed. "Yoshiko Nakamura! What have you done? Why is your controller broken? That was not cheap girl!" The young girl looked at her father dead in the eyes. "I was trying to play Call Of Duty Modern Warfare, and I keep getting killed by other players. Not just any players, my teammates. They are also laughing at me and making fun of me because I'm a girl." The father sighed, and sat down on the young girl's bed. "Look honey, I understand you're upset. However, throwing things is not going to solve the problem. It may just make the situation worse. How about you take a break from the video games for now, and I will try to fix your controller for you." The girl stood up, and replied "But Dad. My friends are online, and I want to play with them. I can ask them to play on the computer with me, or on PlayStation." The father shook his head, and grabbed Yoshiko's hand. "You need a break from the video games sweetie. Besides, some of your friends are here." The Japanese girl put her headset on, and spoke to her friends quickly. "Hey, I have to go. Catch you later." Once her friends responded, she turned off her console to head downstairs with Kentaro. "Sorry about that. My daughter just threw her Xbox One controller at the wall. It's all good now." Kentaro and Yoshiko took a spot at the table, and Ayano continued talking about the cases. "First, we will talk about the Osoro case that police just concluded. Osoro Aishi was on the way home from work when another car crashed into hers. The name of the person who owned the car was Jonas Yakashimah, and he was texting while driving despite it being illegal. Apparently he crashed into her so hard that it sent her car flying, and Osoro hit her head really hard. That is what caused her comatose. When Jonas was brought into the police station for questioning, he was locked up because he was being aggressive towards Officer Madoka. He tried to attack her. They locked him up for further investigation." Kentaro gasped in shock. Yoshiko looked at Ayano with a surprised look, and the other girls just sat and listened. "Now time for the ongoing cases. First we will talk about the Yuna and Taro case." Ayano stated as she flipped to the next page in her notebook. "The day before Osoro's accident, Taro Soma and Yuna Aishi escaped from a mental institution here in Tokyo. Yuna's brother, Kenta, caught the footage on tape, but there is no audio to go along with it. Osoro told me that footage revealed that Yuna and Taro jumped over the fence from the backyard, and they escaped on foot. Ever since their escape, everyone has been trying to find them. So now they are trying to get Taro and Yuna back." Mrs. Yamada paused to take a sip of her beverage. As she was doing so, Mr. Nakamura replied "Wow. Those two are real rebels. I thought I heard something about that case on the radio this morning." The girls nodded in response. "We heard that on the radio too." they replied at once. "According to the report on the radio, it says to call the police if we see them. Nearby towns and cities are also alerted as well, so they can keep an eye out for them." As the principal was talking, he took out a notebook and a pen so he could write notes. He wrote down the key points of the case. "Now finally, the last case. The last case is of course the one for your daughter Mayumi. You know all the details for that one already." Ayano and Kentaro put their notebooks away, and started talking about other things such as Yoshiko's achievements at school and what they plan to do in the summer. Yoshiko, Megami, Aya, Mina, and Osana went to the living room to watch a movie as Kentaro and Ayano had some adult time. As the adults chatted, Kentaro started preparing snack bags for the kids. He was making snack bags for them because he did not know how long he and Ayano would be talking. The snack bags included chocolate covered pretzels, popcorn, caramel delight girl scout cookies, and a few other things. He put the girls' drinks into cups that had lids and straws so that the soda wouldn't spill onto the carpet if the girls accidentally knocked them over. Once the snack bags and the drinks were prepared, Kentaro and Ayano took them upstairs. "Girls. We got something for you." Mr. Nakamura stated gracefully. "Thank you! the girls replied quickly as they each gave him and Ayano hugs.. The adults set the bags and drinks on the table, and replied happily. "You're welcome girls! what are you watching?" Yoshiko grabbed the cover of the movie from the television stand, and showed it to her father. "We are watching Halo Legends." she replied quickly. Kentaro showed the movie to Ayano so she could see as well. "That's pretty cool. You girls enjoy your movie now. Ayano and I are going downstairs to have an adult talk for a couple of hours." The girls nodded in response as the grown-ups went downstairs. Despite the two cases going on, they were very excited to sit down and watch a movie because it took their mind off everything that was happening. They loved spending time with each other, and enjoying the day. By the time the movie ended, Osana, Mina, and Yoshiko fell asleep on the floor. Megami and Aya were up for another movie. "What should we watch next?" Aya asked her best friend as she got up to take the movie out of the player. "We should watch Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. That movie is so cool." Megami replied as she sat on the couch eating her snacks. "Okay." Aya exclaimed quickly. She grabbed the movie off the shelf, and put the disc in. It was very quiet in the Nakamura household because Ayano and Kentaro went outside for some fresh air, and Yoshiko's mom, Zaurina, was not off work yet. The principal's daughter looked out the window while waiting for the previews to end. Finally, the previews ended and the play menu appeared. Megami reached for the remote, and pressed the play button quickly. Suddenly, they hear the door open and close. Megami and Aya knew it was Zaurina because the voice did not sound like Ayano's or Kentaro's. Mrs. Nakamura came upstairs to greet the girls, and noticed everyone else asleep on the floor. "Good evening girls. how are you doing?" she whispered as she walked toward Yoshiko's room. "Hello Zaurina. We're doing good. Just watching movies." The two girls replied. "I am very excited because Megami's mom is going to be adopting my sister and I. I'm excited because Megami and I get to be sisters!" Aya added. "Good for you." Mrs. Nakamura replied. She went into her eight year old's room, and came out with three blankets a few seconds later. She walked back to the living room, and covered the three sleeping girls. Once they were all covered, Zaurina went downstairs to grab a few more snacks. She then joined the girls for their movie marathon. She knew that they were not into any girly movies or romantic movies, so she didn't question what they were watching. Zaurina and the two girls sat on the couch quietly, and watched the movie as they enjoyed each other's company.
