My 18th BirthdayA Story by Noah Wayverlynn
Honestly, one of my favorite memories would have to be my 18th birthday. Now before I jump into this story, let me give you a little background information that would be useful when reading this. I was born on January 1 1998, so this story will be taking place on January 1 2016 even though this story really takes place on the last day of 2015. So my story takes place in that time frame. Now onto the story! It was a beautiful night on December 31. My mom, my grandma, my brothers, and I were visiting one of my uncles for the holiday. We hung out, and had dinner that night. They had some hats and glasses that had 2016 on them as well as Happy New Year! on them. As the night progressed, we celebrated the new year. The one thing we had at the celebration I really enjoyed was strawberry cheesecake. I thought that was beyond good, in fact, I thought it was spectacular. After hanging out inside, we went outside to set off some fireworks. We had fun hanging out that night, and we began watching the time closely so we would know when it was the new year. We kept watching the time, and we started counting down the last minutes of 2015. Even though everyone was excited, I was the most excited because I was going to be 18 in a few minutes. I knew that I would be a legal adult once the clock struck midnight, so I was more than excited. A few seconds before it turned midnight, we started counting down "3...2...1" and then said happy new year when it became midnight. After everyone said "Happy New Year", they wished me a happy birthday. My real name isn't Demetra, it's Arizona. So when they wished me a happy birthday, they said "Happy Birthday Arizona" and "Happy birthday Zona!" After we got done with the celebration, I asked for another slice of cheesecake because it was so good. Well, this is a short story because I just wanted to tell you about how I celebrated the new year and my 18th birthday. I hope that I have as much fun as I had on the first day of last year.
