Mall Of America Visit

Mall Of America Visit

A Story by Noah Wayverlynn

As I'm trying to remember some past experiences, the memory of my visit to the Mall Of America has been in the back of my mind since the day I went there. So I am going to share my personal experience with all of you. It was a bright and beautiful day on July 4th in Fargo North Dakota. My Grandma and I were arguing about something, but I can't remember what. I think we were originally planning to spend a night in Minneapolis or something, but something changed that when we got on the road. We stopped at my house to get my mom and my brothers, and I had to get tennis shoes on since there's a lot of walking at the Mall Of America. For some reason I didn't want to go with them that day, but I had to go since I was the one who suggested the idea of going there. I have to admit that I was so caught up in how mad I was, and I forgot to go in for my tennis shoes. When it was time to hit the road, I was still wearing my flip flops. A few minutes after hitting the road, we stopped at Hardee's for something to eat. I guess I was having bad luck or something because one of my flip flops broke as I was walking to the table from the soda machine. On to of that, Someone was arguing with me about something. I am trying to recall most of what happened as I am writing this, so I may be a little off. It was a long drive to Minneapolis, and I got bored. I can't remember what I brought with to entertain myself, but I know for sure that I was still bored. After some hours of driving, we finally got to the Mall Of America's parking area. Once we parked, we tried to fix my flip flop with tape. hahaha bad idea. When we entered the mall and got to the main walking area, my flip flop broke again. Unfortunately, I couldn't walk at the same pace as everyone else due to the flip flop breaking. We couldn't really look at anything, because we were focused on trying to find a Payless shoe store nearby to get me a pair of shoes. I had to drag my feet all the way around the mall until we finally found a Payless store. Ever since that day, I get after myself for being stupid and wearing flip flops even though I was told to take some shoes with me. I almost tripped a few times because the flip flop kept sliding out from under my foot. At the shoe store, we found a pair of shoes that fit me. They were gray and white. I really wanted to get some pink shoes, but decided not to say anything since everyone was already mad at me. After paying the for the shoes, I immediately put them on since I was sick of those flip flops. My brothers and I had a set amount of money that we could each spend, and I would've been able to spend my money on something else if i just grabbed my tennis shoes when someone told me to. For the rest of the trip, I felt mad about my dumb decisions. When we got done at the store, it was time to walk around the mall for real. Eventually, we wanted to walk around on a different floor. I was forced to take the escalator even though I just wanted to take the elevator. As a visually impaired person, I have been afraid of escalators ever since I was very little. I don't know what sparked my fear of escalators, but I think that it's because I don't know when to step on or step off of it. Anyways, back to the story. When we got off the escalator, we walked around the next floor of the mall. All of us eventually got hungry after that day of drama, so we stoped at Long John Silvers (A&W) for a bite to eat. I can't remember what we got to eat, so I won't mention any details about lunch. After lunch, we decided that it was time to head back to Fargo. The best thing was that i was finally able to keep up with everyone because I didn't have those flip flops anymore. When we got back to Fargo, we went to one of my Uncle's houses for a 4th of July celebration. Honestly, that was my favorite part of that day. I was so unlucky that day, and I hope that I can visit the Mall of America again someday so I can experience it without the flip flop situation making my day almost complete trash.
