My Experience At Transition Academy

My Experience At Transition Academy

A Story by Noah Wayverlynn

Ever since August 29th, I have been attending some additional schooling to learn how to live on my own. Some people call it school, but I just call it Transition. For the past two months at Transition, I have been gaining work skills by volunteering at different work stations as well basic life skills I also learn how to cook. My daily schedule for Transition Academy is very simple: Get off the bus and put my backpack in my locker, go to a work station (or stay at the academy to help out there), social time, lunch, go to another work station or stay at the academy to help out there, and then get my stuff and ride the bus home. Yes, that's how easy my day is. I am in transition from 9 AM until 2:30 PM. Social time is a time where students who attend Transition can socialize with each other. I on the other hand, don't socialize very much I have to admit. I'm either caught up in either brainstorming book ideas, reading, writing, drawing and coloring, or reading. In speaking of brainstorming book ideas, I have some ideas I can't wait to show you! Some activities at the school include: Life skills, recycling, doing projects, cooking, and shredding papers. Some of the work stations I go to include: Sheyenne Crossing, Dakota Boys And Girls Ranch, Repeat Boutique, and other places they may schedule me to volunteer at. In the afternoon of every Friday, We have some fun doing different activities that's not considered work. Some of the Friday fun activities include: going bowling, going to the park, going out to eat, carving pumpkins, and more! In speaking of Fridays, Today is Friday....Well at the time I'm writing this. I am so excited to carve a pumpkin this afternoon. I am having a great time attending Transition Academy so far due to things like: easy schedule, no grades, no academics, and obviously NO HOMEWORK!!!!!! I am so glad that I don't have to bring home tons of homework every night anymore! Well, I have to attend Transition for two years until I'm 21. Basically, Transition Academy is the reason why I am stuck in Fargo for two more years. Oh well! Besides, I find it to be a wonderful opportunity to attend an awesome school. I will do my best to enjoy the blessing of getting more education on skills we will ACTUALLY USE in real life, and I will do my best to be an excellent student until the last day of my second year in 2019.
