The Stolen Crystal

The Stolen Crystal

A Chapter by Noah Wayverlynn

One morning, Kate woke up and noticed that her lucky crystal was missing. She looked for it all morning, and then finally asked everyone if they noticed it anywhere. Diamond was out a the Starlight court house in the process of changing her first name, and she had her lucky crystal with her so she had no motive to take Kate's. "Jessie! Aya! Can you please come here for a moment?" Kate called from the living room. Jessie and Aya came out at the same time, and they politely sat down. "Yes?" they both asked with a puzzled look. "Have you seen my Lucky crystal anywhere? I woke up, and i noticed that it disappeared. Last time I saw it was when i was heading to bed." The kids shook their heads and said "No we have not seen it anywhere. We know we are not allowed to touch it or anything, so we don't do anything with it." They all sit quietly thinking about what might of happened to Kate's crystal. Suddenly, they hear the front door open "I'm home everyone! It took a long time to get my name changed." a woman says. "So what's the new name?" Kate and the kids asked. "I changed my name from Diamond to Tina." she said gracefully. "Now my name is Tina Danielle Moon." she added. Kate walks over to Tina and says with a sad tone in her voice "Hey Tina, have you seen my lucky crystal anywhere? Last time I saw it was when I went to bed, and then i woke up and it wasn't there. I asked the kids if they seen it, but unfortunately they didn't." Tina shook her head, and sat down. "I grabbed our mail from our mailbox on the way in, so let's take a look." Tina says with a hopefully tone. As Tina passed out the mail with everyone's name on it, one envelope fell to the ground. "I believe this one is yours." Jessie says as he hands the envelope to Kate after he picks it up from the ground. As soon as she was done reading the rest of her mail, Kate read the mysterious letter aloud. "Dear Kate Moon, I have your lucky crystal here, and i found it laying in Midnight park by the fountain. I wiped it clean, and now I have it in a safe place If you want it back then come get it, but one thing you should know is that I am not from Starlight. I currently reside in a city called Dream City, and that is a long ways from Starlight. My address is on the envelope, so you won't have trouble locating me. Remember to come pick up your crystal if you want it, and hope to see you soon." There was no name on the envelope or the letter, and that puzzled everyone. "Ok everyone. My crystal was not laying in Midnight Park. I had it here with me. We need to get to the bottom of this is figure out who that mysterious girl is." They all  agreed, and then Kate continued on "Jessie and Tina, you stay here and protect the house while Aya and I go retrieve that crystal." Jessie and Tina nodded, and Kate heads to her room to get ready. "Kate wait up! I got something for you." Tina runs after her as Aya heads to her room to prepare for the big journey. "Here is our spell book. You might need it on your journey. It has all the dark spells. Oh, and here is the wand. You will need the wand to actually do the spells. Here is our locket of Hope. If you ever run into a problem and need advice, there is a button on the locket that will call me. I have one too, so when you call for help, I'll be able to answer." Tina says. Once Tina finished talking with Kate, she strolls over to Aya's room to talk to her. As she approaches the door, she can hear Aya crying and talking to herself. "Aya, are you alright darling?" Tina asks as she sits on the bed ready to hug her daughter. "No Tina! I am not alright! How in the world am I supposed to help Kate get her crystal back??? I can't do it, I'm only a 5th grader! Why? Why do I have to be the one to do this? I can't even think positively." Aya cries as Tina tries to hug her. "Aya darling, Kate chose you because she knows that you can do it and she believes in you. If you believe in yourself, and do the best you can then you should be fine. You may be a 5th grader, but I believe that if you put your mind to it and try...then you can do it. You may be mentally unstable, but if you get through this journey just fine.... We can figure something out to make it better. Don't worry." She says as she attempts to comfort her. Aya pulls away from Tina's arms, and then she says "No I can't do it. I don't have hope, and i don't even believe in myself. I just can't....." Kate comes in and grabs Aya's luggage. "Aya it's time to go!" she says while exiting the room. "NO I AM NOT GOING!" Aya shouts at Kate as she curls up on the bed with her stuffed animal. Tina grabs the luggage from Kate, and says "I'll help you with that." After Tina exits the house to load the vehicle, Kate walks to her daughter's room and says "Don't talk to me like that Aya! You are coming with me whether you like it or not." Kate picks Aya up from her bed, and walks out with the crying girl in her arms. The angry woman makes her daughter get in the back seat, and buckles her up. After saying their goodbyes, Kate drives off leaving Tina waving at them from the steps A few hours passed, and Aya was asleep. As Kate is driving, she saw a sign that said "Welcome to Dream City" in big print. Kate thought to herself "I thought the writer said that Dream City was a long way from Starlight, but I guess they lied because Starlight is just two hours away. The writer's address on the envelope, and Kate knew exactly where it was so she went straight there instead of finding a map. When Kate and Aya arrived at the house, a woman with long blonde hair walked close to the car. "Ah so you must be Kate and Aya Moon. What a delight to see you. come right in." she says as the girls get out of the car. Once inside, the girl introduced herself to the girls "My name is Lina, and I found this crystal by the fountain at Midnight Park in Starlight. I thought no one owned it, but someone at my work told me it belonged to you." Aya and Kate looked at each other, and Kate stepped in "Look Lina, my crystal was not at the park. It was sitting on my night stand when i last saw it. You must have broken into my house when I was asleep and took my crystal when you left." she raised her voice and continued "Why would you steal something like that? that crystal is my lucky charm and it means a lot to me. On top of that, you lied in your letter saying that this place was far away from Starlight, but it took me two hours! So you lied twice in your letter. The first lie was that you found my crystal was by a fountain in a park, and the second lie you told was that this place was far away from Starlight. Get you facts straight girl!" Aya stood up and added "Yeah! or we will report you for stealing. that is completely unacceptable and very disrespectful. I suggest you hand that crystal over, or face the consequences of your misbehavior!" Amy took the crystal from the table, and tried to put it away. In another room, Kate and Aya plan to take action and use a spell from the spell book. Aya dashes out of the room, and attempts to take the crystal out of the blonde girl's hands. "I need security here at my house right now!" Amy tells a girl on her hands free phone. "Security is on it's way Ms. Lina Jones." As Kate and Aya try to fetch the gleaming crystal, Lina sets the crystal on top of a high shelf and defends herself. "Well Aya, looks like we're about to get some action. Let's call for back up, and let's kick some butt." Kate says as Lina tries to help herself. Here it was going to be a nice little confrontation, but it ends up become a huge fight fight.
