First Day Of School

First Day Of School

A Chapter by Noah Wayverlynn
"

this is when Jessie and Aya start 5th grade at their new private school of Magic Elementary.

"
The moon and stars were just rising in the world of Starlight. Magic Elementary school was a night school that Jessie and Aya had to attend. As it turned 9 pm, Kate was taking the kids to school in her new black and red truck. It was a calm night, and there were no signs of incoming storms or anything that could put the Moon family in danger. For school, Aya was wearing a brand new black shirt Diamond bought her. The shirt read "Let the moon shine upon us" and it had a person standing by a shore watching the moon. She also had black and red Nike shoes, and they light up a little as she ran. Jessie was wearing a red shirt that read "Darkness is on our side" and it had a picture of a moon shining down on a pathway. Jessie had the same shoes as Aya did, but they had a "J" on them because Diamond and Kate did not want to deal with them when they got their shoes all mixed up. "Here we are!" Kate says with excitement as they pull up into the parking lot. The school was big, and it looked kind of spooky to Jessie and Aya. The school was a little like the Moon residence, but the only light shining brightly was located in the principals office and the main office. The school was lit with candles and fireplaces that were in each room, and the light in the principals office and the main office was much brighter. Kate walked into the school with the kids to make sure they knew where they were going, and she left as soon as the principal handed them their schedules and explained everything. "Ok Jessie and Aya. I am going to be leaving now. I will be back to pick you up around 2:30." Once Jessie and Aya gave their mother a kiss on the cheek, Mrs. Jasmine led them to their classroom. "Your teacher is Mr. Yamada, and he will be teaching you mostly everything you need to know. The only time you will be leaving the classroom is for lunch, down time, music, and a special class called games and art. As they headed into the classroom, Mrs. Jasmine told Mr. Yamada "Mr. Yamada, Jessie and Aya are also in your class this year." Mr. Yamada nods, and then he directs the kids to their seats. The room was lit with a marble fireplace in the back, and it also had candles on high tables in two corners. "Ok class, we are going to start with getting to know each other. Afterwards, we are going to start with some basic magic lessons and some reading. Before we start, I would like to introduce you to our student teacher Ms. West. Ms. West is going to be with us for the whole year. She is currently attending a college called Starlight University." After introducing themselves and doing some activities, it was time for all the students to start doing some reading. All the school had were books about darkness, magic, and dark culture. The only books they had that were not about those topics were the school textbooks that taught the whole curriculum. Mr. Yamada had the class read a book called "Six Dark Nights." When the students were done reading the book, the teacher had them write a short summary about the book so they can practice their writing skills. When they were required to write a summary, the kids were allowed to work with a partner or on their own. Jessie wanted to work alone, but Aya wanted to work with a partner. Aya worked with a girl named Hannah, and they became best friends really qucik. A few minutes later, Mr. Yamada said "Ok time's up! Hannah Rio and Aya Moon, please share with the class what you came up with for a summary." Hannah and Aya went up to the front together, and then they started to read what they wrote since they were partners. "Six Dark Nights is about 4 kids on a camping trip with their parents, and they did not like where they were camping so they wanted to head home. The story follows the kids as they try to keep calm and cope with six nights away from home. On the sixth night, the kids begin to realize they actually like their camping trip. When they go to bed on the last night of their trip, they are sad that they have to leave but they are happy that they are heading back home." After the girls show their whole summary, the class claps loudly with a sign of excitement. When Mr. Yamada finished calming the class down, they began to do basic magic. On the first day they learned basic spells such as instant completion and navigating electronic systems. In Magic Elementary, they have to learn basic magic before they can go any deeper into dark magic. When the kids finished their basic magic lesson, it was time for them to head to lunch. For lunch on the first day, the school provided Macaroni and Cheese with hot dogs or Sloppy Joe. Both Jessie and Aya had Macaroni and cheese, but they didn't sit at the same table. Aya sat with her friends Hannah, Abby West, May Hikaru, Nick Dawson, William Hill, and Tyler Jonas. Jessie sat with his friends Katrina Clayton, Yuna Ren, Justin Yuri, Casey Quinn, and Ayano Basu. After their lunch hour, they had to head to their music class. They only did activities to get to know each other, and they also talked about important information. After the rest of their classes, Kate went inside to pick them up. Their last class was back in Mr. Yamada's classroom, and that's where Kate met them. On their way home, Jessie and Aya went on and on about what they did the first day of school. Diamond was with them, but she did not go into the school with Kate. As they drove through the city to their place, a girl glared at them from her window. Diamond didn't notice because she was driving, but others noticed the girl. "Why is she glaring at us? That is really rude." Jessie asks without hesitation. "I don't know." Kate replies with a shrug. Aya kept quiet and looked the other way. When they got home a short time later, they all relaxed and hung out for several hours. Once the sun rose and broad daylight came, they fell asleep and waited for the night to come again.
