Check Up Gone WrongA Chapter by Noah Wayverlynn
It was 5:00pm on Sunday, December 13th. Annalisa and her interpreter, Kristen Blooms enter Sunnyville Hospital with Ella and Faith. Jordan was out helping a friend, so he couldn't go with them to the check up. "Welcome to Sunnyville Hospital! What brings you in today?" After Kristen finishes signing the secretary's greeting, Annalisa responds with a smile "Hello. My name is Annalisa West, and I am here for an appointment with Dr. May." As the secretary hands Annalisa a clipboard with a form she needed to fill out, he says "Ok Annalisa. Please take a seat, and we will inform Dr. May that you're here. She's just finishing up with a patient, and she'll call your name when she's ready for you. In the meantime, please fill out the form and bring it back up here when you're finished." Ms. Blooms signs the response to Mrs. West while Annalisa takes the clipboard from the secretary. "Alright. Thank you." Annalisa says with a smile. As the West family and Annalisa's interpreter sit down, Faith signs to her mother "Hey I'm nervous. I hope it turns out well." With a smile, Annalisa signs back in response reassuring the girls that it will be alright. Mrs. West's interpreter signs "Do you have any questions about what the secretary said, or any questions about what's on the form?" Annalisa responds to her interpreter stating that she doesn't need help at the moment, and she understood what the secretary said. Annalisa returned the clipboard and the form up to the check in desk, and sat back down. A few minutes later, an angelic voice calls out "Annalisa West!" As Faith, Ella, Kristen, and Annalisa stood up, Dr. May exclaims "Hello Annalisa! it's so good to see you again. Wow! your daughters are growing fast, and it has been eleven years since I've seen them." As they enter an open room, Kristen Blooms introduces herself. "Hello Dr. May! My name is Kristen Blooms. I am Annalisa West's ASL interpreter. I can't remember if we met before, but If not...then it's nice to meet you." While Dr. May and Kristen have a quick chat before starting the check up session, Faith signs something only she knows. All of a sudden, a table with all of Dr. May's tools appears near them. "Faith Hope West! what are you doing?" Annalisa asks her daughter. Faith shrugs, and waits by her sister. Hearing the Annalisa's question, Dr. May and Kristen rush into the room. "Annalisa is everything alright?" Kristen signs frantically. Annalisa replies to Kristen's question reassuring that everything is fine. The Dr. speaks up, and she says "How did my equipment get there? I thought I put it away after I was done with my previous patient?" Annalisa and Ella step aside, and they point to Faith West. Surprised, the young doctor dismisses it and begins the check up. The check up progressed, but suddenly Ella notices a wound on Dr. May's finger. "Hey Dr. May, what happened to your finger?" she asks with a concerned tone. The doctor looked at her hand, and responded to Ella "Oh i got a paper cut this morning while trying to read a file about one of my patients." Ella touches Dr. May's finger, and she starts humming her favorite song as the doctor tries to tell Ella to let her continue the check up. After a few seconds, the paper cut disappeared from Dr. May's finger. She looked at her finger with a surprised look, and asked Ella "How did you do that? I swear i had a paper cut, and now it's gone." Ella told Doctor May about her secret ability. Faith was so surprised about her sisters ability, and she fainted as her sister spoke about it. Dr. May heads over to Faith, and tries to wake her up. Faith was so surprised about Ella's healing power, and she saw it for the first time. When Ella notices her sister passed out on the floor, she runs up to her and tries to wake her. "Faith! Faith! Wake up!!!" she yells as she shakes her sister frantically. Again, she uses her healing ability to help her sister. Ella's favorite song was Supposed To Be by Icon For Hire. After a few seconds, Faith sits up and says "Uh....what happened?" As Dr. May rushes to assist Faith, she orders Ella to step aside. "Your daughters are fine Mrs. West. However, I would like to keep Faith here to make sure she's alright." The young doctor tells Annalisa. As Kristen Blooms signs Dr. May's comment, Faith yells out "No! I don't want to be here!" as she runs past them. Dr. May tells Annalisa to remain clam, because she'll chase Faith down for her. While being chased by Dr. May and her sister, Faith casts a spell upon herself to change her appearance. Ella catches up with her while the doctor went back to talk with Annalisa and Kristen. "Excuse me Miss, are you Faith West....My sister?" she asks Faith turns around to face Ella, and without hesitation says "Nope. you've got the wrong girl here. sorry." even though she was Faith West. Ella thanks her, and runs back to the room where her mother waited. "We lost Faith!" Ella cries without stopping. Annalisa signs to her daughter "I'm sure she will turn up eventually. She must remember that we're her family, and we care about her." Later that night, Ella and Annalisa tell Jordan about the incident at the appointment. "Dr. May didn't know how Faith and I got our powers, and Faith fainted as i showed Dr. May my healing ability. When Faith heard that she had to stay in the hospital to be monitored, she screamed and ran off. Now we can't find her." Ella says to her father. Concerned, Jordan picks up the phone to call the police. As Ella heads to bed, Annalisa waits for Jordan to finish his call. "Hi my name is Jordan West, and my daughter Faith Hope West is missing. My daughter Ella and My wife Annalisa told me she disappeared while they were at Sunnyville Hospital. If someone finds her, please give us a call immediately so we can pick her up." Jordan says in a calm tone. After the dispatcher finishes their response, Jordan says "Thank you so much! Annalisa, Ella, and I are so worried about her. We hope she's safe." Once he hangs up the phone, he signs the dispatcher's response to his wife. They head upstairs to get some rest, but they hope Faith will return home soon. Jordan sets his phone as high as it can go, so he can be alert if anyone finds his missing daughter. Despite being worried about Faith, the West family sleeps and hopes that their beloved girl will be back home safe and sound.
