The Queen
In my place at the top I can see it all,
Held up by your quivering shoulders, I brace myself to fall.
Now as your Queen I can see through time,
Not much longer now till you too cross the line.
I feel you struggle beneath me, my weight takes its toll,
But if my heart were any lighter, I would not be suited to this roll.
I'll ask you only once, to steadfast bear the pain,
I will not cry or beg you, it would only bring us shame.
I know I ask a lot, but I promise all the more,
A star cannot shine without its sky, or an ocean with no shore.
I can see it in your eyes how often you'd trade our places,
Shifting burdens, shifting fortunes, exchanging hearts and faces.
You would have your day at the top, but what you cannot see,
Buffeted by wind and rain and storm of hate, the one at the bottom is me.
