Fear crawls up my back

Fear crawls up my back

A Poem by Working Class Scarecrow

silence is a sentance
solittude, a blessing and a curse
all of these double edged swords
slashing situations, but they must be worth
something

and i should let them speak
but things get lost in translation
obscene amounts of opportunity
but i can't stand the aniticipation

precarious potential
threaded with thoughts of
consequence, conditions,
memories, like the loss of love

i encounter new beginnings
but this fear crawls up my back
and it looms over my shoulder
sharpens its teeth and i lay flat

my kindred passes by me
just another face in the crowd
and if i knew what i was supposed to say
i would say so damn loud

it would echo off the bricks
of the apartments and boutiques
and it sounds like love is all around
but i haven't seen it for weeks

wow! it echoes, the words are chosen so carefully that you illustrate through multiple senses the fear you describe

I agree with Shannon's review. This piece does resonate with emptiness and something else, missed opportunities perhaps? Well done.

I like the way this sounds. It resonates emptiness almost, kind of like the echoes of the things you don't shout.
