Smoke-Wrote Pope-Float (Oct. 20th, 2006)

A Poem by Working Class Scarecrow

clear your throat
              so you can think straight,
   coffee and smoke,
   coffee and smoke.
         mid-morning hazes
                         green and amber glass shades
                                   read what i wrote,
                                   read what i wrote.

a skeleton shivers
               perched on a barrel
                              hat like the pope,
                              hat like the pope.
sink or swim
             in this living river
                            watch as i float,
                               watch as i float.....
