In This Act I Am Alive

In This Act I Am Alive

A Poem by Working Class Scarecrow
"

How I describe the feeling of writing.

"

the thing about writing, for me anyway...

is that i can feel each letter being pulled from my being.

and in this act i feel alive.

like when you ride a bicycle down a steep hill

sometimes it's short lived...

sometimes i have time to really think about it

while
it's happening

and i feel the wind in my hair,
                 and realize...

                              that isn't wind....
                   it's the sensation of myself,
 moving through the air.

The dictionary describes a moral, as a message conveyed or a lesson to be learned, from a story or event. This piece certainly emphasises lateral thinking; viewing one event, through different perspectives.

An excellent example of creative writing. Well done!

I liked 'it's the sensation of self' notion...but was not that taken with the layout which put me off a little.

slaps forehead. What a great line - it isn't the wind but the sensation of myself moving through the air.
Love the imagery of pulling words out of oneself. Its fitting for a writer....well done.

This one's pretty good. Thank you Emily for sending this piece along to me. I like the expression of wordsmithing like riding a bike, and the sense that the wonder of wind is really yourself in motion. That cinched it for me. The format of this piece also lends well to a strange feel of lightness and forming. Well done indeed! Rob

This is a perfect explanation of the experience of writing....when the words are flowing and it is almost effortless...of course, sometimes it is more like pulling teeth lol. The format creates that unique feeling....of movement and takes the reader for that exhilerating downhill ride. nice job.

A very nice morsel. I remember a 'futurist' predicting that style, or form, due to the fact that space is free on computor 'paper.' Nice use of it. Very effective.

Good job. The final line fits nicely...a truly poetic finale.

What an amazing perception! Wind happens to you when you are at rest and the air is moving. Your writing is you being in motion, creating, making something out of nothing. Perception is a wonderfully complex thing. I read a great write on here a while ago about perception. If I can find it I will send you a read request for it so you can check it out.

For me, writing it capturing a moment in time or an event and giving it words so that someone else can experience what I have. Your write on what writing is to you has done that for me. You have given your experience a mode of communication so that others can experience it. Thank you very much for sharing.

Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. Writing is like flying, except when you crash and burn. Still, it's worth it.
