Coarse ThroatA Poem by VicWhy don't you love me? I'd do anything for you to love me back. When I smile, only to watch you turn, it dissolves away and makes me just Ah! Scream! And it breaks my voice. My throat hurts, I can't talk about what ails me. When the time draws near, will it disappear? Or remain forever? When you smile, it's like I can laugh again. Even though it's not meant for me. Even though my laughter can't escape the coarse walls of where it's meant to emerge. I try to shout out as you walk away but my voice is too weak. And I swear I won't cry. I swear I can fight. I'll show you what you want. I'll be want you need. You will look at me. You have to look at me. I'll become what you've been looking for, and steal your gaze away. But I'm losing the battle, because I can't even shout the war cry. © 2012 VicReviews
