Of A RebelA Poem by Against All AuthorityA rough draft of a poem, but I wanted to post it anyway to get some feedback.Young, energetic, devoted, ready to burst forth with life, Dire news is communicated Of labors bitter, ugly strife, At such injustice, anger boils, Schemes quickly agitate minds, A hasty plan is made to spoil Capitalisms awful crimes, Off to Pittsburg, off, Go! Go! The plan is coming alive. Swift determination bestow This honorable plan thrive. Failure! The bombs did not explode, Something else must be conceived, This is a sign of something bode Perhaps, it's not meant to be. Determination never quits, No! Labor will yet succeed, Capitalism won't submit Unless it's brought to its knees. A revolver and a knife this time, simply won't be deterred, The day will end in blazing bliss, Capitalism's arm cut? Confirmed! The act is done, labor's breathing, A martyr is to be made, Henry Clay Frick lies down bleeding, As Berkman awaits his fate. Berkman's defense is of his own, An explanation is all, But the judge on his mighty throne Kills justice against the wall. Liberty is now gagged and choked, Capital will get its way, A petty system cheap and broke, Berkman's life is thrown away. Twenty-two years are meted out, Labor, tried and convicted. The system shows what it's about Justice must be restricted.
