Heartbreak Refrain

Heartbreak Refrain

A Poem by Kay
"

Just a poem I wrote years ago, that inevitably foreshadowed the future of my relationship 2 years in advance. I was a sophomore in high school when I wrote this. Oh the angst.

"
I contemplate your thoughts for you,
Yet I cannot to it my own.
If you say the life is true,
Then my thoughts have truly grown.
Your problems all revolve around one
That one you have confused.
What we have is no longer fun,
As my mind sets to diffuse.
I can only help you with
Your mind as it wonders may
Like light can help life,
Through the lonely day.
However, you're no help to me
at all, it seems to be.
My life far more than you'd see.
The life I inhabit is not of me,
But of another, apparently.
Your mind seems to know
Only itself and its self boats row,
When lifes a ship,
Small boats are all you know.
Life is a big ship too,
A bigger picture not involving you.
Now you'd ask me,
"What should I do?"
Oh, but if only you knew,
There is nothing more you can do
There is way more in my mind
Than your small one can comprehend.
So one day this all must come to a bitter end.
You fear heartbreak,
I laugh at this, your claim
Heartlessness? I don't get your aim.
So many little things cause you pain,
and to talk about it?
PLEASE REFRAIN.
