Pandora's Box - Album on Imgur

Pandora was always told

She was to remain pure and chaste

Not to waste her innocence

But in a sense she was blind

To the evil she might find

Her family always said

Not to open the box

There were late-night talks,

It would make her dirty

They might call her "flirty"

For the rest of her life

So she didn't

She was a good little girl

A smooth alabaster pearl

That box was opened by some man

Some twisted man

that Pandora trusted

A rusted and twisted old man

Whose daughter she would play with daily

That she loved like family

But his intentions were vicious

This girl's daddy was malicious

A predator, to say the least

He said,

"Relax, baby, it's okay, relax your legs"

As his own daughter slept

on the bed nearby

He had his way and thereby

He ripped open the box

And unleashed every evil into her mind

A torrent of madness of lust, hate, and sadness

But one thing remained

Something pure and unstained

Hope, beautiful hope

The product of this vicious act

A fullness she lacked

That was somehow the thing she loved the most

Baby Hope was sweet and pure

A cure to all the evil she could find

So Pandora held all the evil in her mind

It was another box

That she dared not open

Lest it touch

 Her perfect child

I don't even know why I'm posting this on my page, this is basically Ts's poem (T.S. Ulmus), most of the words are his, I added in some words, there's a quote in here that was taken directly from the mouth of the man who took my innocence as a child...it's almost my story, except I didn't end up with a baby at the end...
Thank y'all for reading!!! :)

I did like this poem. I wouldn't open Pandora's box. I read too many tales of deadly ending. You took the reader with you into interesting places and your thoughts. Thank you dear friend for sharing the amazing poetry.

Well done! However leaves the reader feeling just a bit off due to its deep undertones...

I found this fun. I enjoyed the way you took a story so familiar and made it into something so beautifully different.

So relatable, and it is so much like Pandora's box.....
I hope you are doing ok, Nix. I hope you know peace within you where-ever you are. This is such a wonderful and amazing write.
Once the ugly and the monsters are let out of the box, how do you put them back in??? Maybe a question that we will be asking for the rest of our lives.

Wow......I had no idea this write would take these turns. Very powerful stiff here. Well done and so very sad that this crap happens. People can be harsh sick animals!

Wow, you two did such an amazing job with this. It is so so sad, but I can relate to it's words. I love the twist of Pandora's box. It was not the girl who opened the box, but a corrupt and cruel man, and she is the one who will pay for it... always pay for it.

"He had his way and thereby
he ripped open the box
and unleashed every evil into her mind
a torrent of madness of lust, hate, and sadness."

and the conclusion which is so bittersweet, because even though she has been blessed with a child that brightens her days, that child could never take away all the evil that has been done to her in the past.

Another good collaboration. One thing that comes across is ... no matter what happens there can always be hope.
Hope that changes can be made ... hope that evil can be overcome ... hope that I'll be alright.

Keep fighting Nix ... that's all any of us can do.

Keep safe.
