Magpies

Magpies

A Poem by Nix
"

This is about looking back and wishing you knew what you know now. It's about life I guess, and change. There's always magpies around my way!

"

I sit where the sun can warm my skin

and like an ice cube, melt into a childlike grin

watching Magpies pit-patter on the green

and kids hop-hopping to their childhood dreams.

I long to go back to skipping with friends,

chasing rainbows to find the rainbows end.

But seasons come and seasons go

Those kids hop-hopping watch the seasons sow,

while the Magpies skip, one, two, three

As they did back then when I played upon the green.

I wonder if this has all been planned

or if we can alter what’s written in the sand?

So many dreams were sort to change,

the writer, the painter, the musician and age!

I watch the Magpies swoop-swoop into the trees,

Magpies - they always knew some things were never meant to be.

Why on earth would you worry about this one? Its wonderful and I'm not yanking your chain either! I think its something that we can all relate to. We all feel a little melancholy at times and you watch children that seem so happy and oblivious that you can't help, but wish you could go back to simpler times. A time before things got complicated, as everyone's life becomes at some point, and people get dragged down a bit.

The first two lines were beautiful. "I sit where the sun can warm my skin
And like an ice cube melt into a childlike grin".

Defineately keep this one up. I know why you might be tempted to take it down, but I think its something that everyone can relate to and take something different away with them after reading it. The ending is sad, but that's the way life is sometimes. Sad, I mean. You did good Nix! Don't take it down.
