Autumn Oak

Autumn Oak

A Poem by Nix
"

This one simply comes down to my love of Autumn!

"

Black against the light of day
And basking in the act of autumn,
The Oak now stripped of her troubles
Is left with her arms in all directions.
She is seemingly taller,
With her feet firmly in the earth
But trembles at my touch
As she awaits the chill of winter.
Do not be afraid, she stirs
Her limbs swaying in the gentle wind,
We must open our hearts to change
And trust that the sun will warm us.

I enjoy this poem very much. I like a poem that tells me that a poet sees something, I mean really sees something for it's true beauty and significance. The only thing that I might suggest would be a comma after this line ...

"With her feet firmly in the earth"

... it feels like it needs a stop there.

I hadd never thought of a trees gender until reading this imaginitive poem. This is a deeply religious peom that I enjoyed very much!

She is intentional knowing her purpose, yet vulnerable. You've created a strong image. I do like this.

Elegant and flowing the simple beauty of a great oak reaching its hands upward to the sun and sky. I sometimes think the poet's soul is linked inexplicably to autumn and believe too that autumn is the real season of rebirth the somber yet precious transition of life ending and beginning

Your poem is an inspiration and speaks gently to my heart and soul.

Ah, its very pretty. I like this "The Oak now stripped of her troubles Is left with her arms in all directions." To me this speaks of reaching out for new horizons and hope. The ending has a nice message too. Sometimes it seems like all anyone can do is trust that every thing happens for a reason. At first it seems like its going to be a sadder poem based on the first two lines, but I think its actually about hope and looking forward. Please tell me if I've got it wrong. It's beautifully written.

Forgive me, after reading this a number of times, I'm confused. It's the beginning that I can't get my head around. However, I do appreciate that poetry is full of images and sometimes everyone sees them and I don't. Maybe you are the air circling around? This makes the poem full of eroticism, perhaps you are telling the tree to succumb to the delights of your Autumn, hide itself with you for protection in Winter, ready to reveal all in Springtime so in Summer you can then warm it with your sun.
I know there's something I'm not seeing here!
