Heart to Okeanos

Heart to Okeanos

A Poem by Nix
"

A poem with a bit of Greek mythology and a lot of word play!

"

The inferno descends the vacant blue of her indigo skies
Into the recurring calm,
The bottomless ocean plagued with three thousand sea-nymphs.
Her toes curl beneath the crystal glazes as tears run her speckled cheeks
Collecting at her chin and falling
One by one
Into the beyond as all things do with time
And in her search for silence - in atonement for perfection
She gently removes her quivering heart from her sleeve
And discards it,
Into the hands of Okeanos,
The god of the Ocean.

Lol! Woman you are so fast! You know that nobody does poetry like you do. This has the light touch of everything that you write. I especiall love the ending where she:

"She gently removes her quivering heart from her sleeve
And discards it, Into the hands of Okeanos,
The god of the Ocean"

I read this one before and am very impressed by it. You always do good work!

Such great event in a matter of words!
Fast-paced yet delicately told, enticing the eyes and the mind to wonder vast fantasies of mythology.
I adore your word play in this Nix. Truly a beautiful read.

Keep writing,

She gently removes her quivering heart from her sleeve
And discards it,

Oh, how I love that line above. Greek mythology sometimes influences some of my poems. Just had to read this one when I saw the byline. Well done!

I like this poem.
Quite simple as that haha.
The ending was especially sweet & as a child, I used to be so engrossed in Greek Mythology, so this especially appealed to me.
Your style of writing is wonderful.
Good work.

This is a beautiful piece. Even though there is a sense to me at least of loneliness and sadness, there is also a strength there as well. As the ocean will absorb all her tears, and Okeanos will mend her heart, making her stronger in the end.

Good job as always Nixie.

Great! I really enjoyed reading this. I venture here once a day to talk to friends and just happened to see your name. Could it be the same person who wrote so well on Booksie? I'm pleased to find it is.

If you need any reviews or help with anything, let me know. I'm still battling with the OU course which is not going well.

This is a marvelously sculpted poem that immediately draws the reader in a specific direction to ponder,
this feels as the painted glimpse of a greek siren ode, and I was taken by the the imagery and intentfully
heartfelt passion, and potent imagery that reflects a great skill in creating still moments,
taking the reader to another place and time, to see and feel the rocks and the seashore,
thanks for sharing your talent
