Strength of SalvationA Poem by Annique le RouxThe saving power of salvation.
this life is a desert
and I ever wandering no more am I alert roaming; ever blundering pain down upon me beats hammering slow and steady sands of ages; high heaps assailing me; ever ready the wind spins around me a prison of air and sand will I ever be free to cross this desolate land I gaze into the east ever-distant shores await they offer me release from this unforgiving fate there is no escape now no more hope; no saving shade I take the final bow my debt - never fully paid I close my eyes And surrender Warm sand below Cool breeze around I am falling No burning sun Distant shores are merely a dream My fate is sealed… moved by wind - a faint voice strong message of salvation offering me a choice never my expectation slowly begin to stir a new Strength suffuses me Spirit within does spur to stand, opens me to see spread-eagled piece of wood carrying burdens untold broken so live, I could outstretched hands provide firm hold Risen, I look east my heart lifts, my sight restored a view which awards me peace its beauty leaving me floored intricate domes of sand brilliantly-blue backdrop heat pulsing as I stand majesty so great " I stop Together we step out Across the desert, as one No longer do I wander about Guided - following the Son And so we begin anew Distant shores to conquer © 2011 Annique le Roux |
