The Gulmohar tree in my BackyardA Poem by NiveFor the little girl in me who never grew up...
The bright red flowers with green plump leaves aginst a backdrop bright blue sky.. Its staying so vivid in my mind, and i can't remember anything older than that..
One which is not real, but so intense and mystic.. The flowers swayed lightly with the sea breeze.. Spreading the coolness in the scorching hot afternoons.. I knew the falling old leaves are sad.. They parchuted down slowly, hesitant to meet the earth.. I could see a whole new world opening before me.. The flowers, leaves, sky everything starts becoming the characters of my granma's stories.. A euphoric show unfolding before my eyes.. They became the kamsa, Krishna and keechaka.. All playing their part with majestic grandeur..
My mom always found it difficult to get me inside She never realised the bond Today, 23 years later... I still find myself standing awestruck at the grandeur of the Gulmohar tree It was a bond that was to last forever..
For i could see the fire, whenever i looked at it... © 2017 Nive |
