Silence

Silence

A Poem by De.Ro
"

I wrote this after an encounter with discrimination, for the fact that I was holding my girlfriends hand.

"
Something to come. Going slow to only run.
Running from who we are.
Who ever thought we would take it this far.
Who says I am not whole.
My soul is breaking a million rules.
According to whom?
Happier than ever, she says how could it get better.
I can't get it out of my head.
See it go. I look over my shoulder.
Look the world over, yet again.
Nothing stands, not for who they truly are, who they want to be.
I'm just me so let it be.
I look into his eyes, a feeling I could never describe.
My soul could burst yet those hands pull me away first.
Taken back to another time.
Times like that I thought I would never find.
They find me, all in time.
So I continue to speak my mind.
Speak for those who can't let out a sound.
Silence bound from the past until now.
Counting numbers, to only remember.
Was I once there before? Now I cannot recall.
Coming back for more, one day I'll feel no remorse.
Silence isn't the way to go.
For no one hears not a single soul.
Souls speak loudly. Connect through sounds.
Ba-boom ba-boom ba-boom, plays my soul right now.
Forever in tune with everyone in this room.
