something about our lovely materialistic society :)
They all seek the light.
Turning heads in sparkling directions.
Thinking it's as meaningful as sunlight to sunflowers.
They want to be sunflowers.
Desperatelly searching for tiny spaces,
where they could feed of light.
Consuming so much, they become surrounded. Surrounded by a cemetery of sunflowers.
Because the light makes them blind.
They think it makes them beautiful.
Accepted. Appreciated.
Without the light, they lose their identity.
»Look at the light«, they said.
»You will become somebody,
and everyone will bow to you.«
»Try to consume the whole sun.«
But I remember it hurt.
Looking at the light hurt.
Some of us prefer the obscurity of constellations.
For some of us, the light of a single star is enough.
A very beautiful write, Sara.
Very relevant to modern society in this age of the reality tv star!
There are so many selfish souls who covet the limelight at the expense of everything the world has to offer. And when the limelight fades from view, they crumble back into their little worlds of insecurity and low self esteem.
dear Sara, the sunflower thrives on
sunlight and I imagine some rain also.
In the final blooming they nourish the
birds who fill our souls with rhapsodies
of a long and fulfilling life. Our creator
is generous and kind. truly, Pat
Wise words....it is true, not enough find peace no matter how hard they search. They might have their 15 minutes of fame, but it will fade and they will be left in the darkness that lasts all too long. A dark understanding of life between the lines. Good one. Lydi**
What a bittersweet magic flows through your metaphors, Sara... these desires so many have... wandering for light.. hungering for more... always more. So many lost in the light... so few finding peace.. Beautiful words...
that spotlight, that limelight burns out quickly...better to live in some obscurity, in that moonlight...more consistent...allowing us to have a consistent life, a gradual culmination---rather than just a flash that burns out in seconds...nice allegory here.

I couldn't agree more!
Thank you for reading it :)
Teasing aside - I like night-blooming sun's flowers. They're unique and less rare than many think. They're senses are near palpable with an aftertaste of existence.

Thanks for my misspelling corrections, I appreciate it. English is far from my native language

English is often "far" from its natives' language as well - chuckling here

I can rewrite it in slovenian and italian, then you can continue chuckling :P

great analogy here... the throngs of people captivated by and lured towards materialistic living are indeed like sunflowers, all the same in an attempt to stand out and be a part of 'keeping up with the Jones' family...enjoyed this very much and agree, it's okay to be 'a night blooming sunflower'...
