Welcome to insanity

Was given a line to write on: "Madness, as you know, is like gravity.. All it takes is a little push"( You might recognize it as Joker's line from the Batman series). And this was my poem on it.

Welcome to Insanity

Madness is like gravity, shh!
The dull frustration follows soon.
All it takes is a little push-
And soon you'll be a wretched loon.

You might say yes to make them proud,
And let them choke you with a leash.
"Boy! You can win" they'll applaud loud,
But inside your head, you stink of fish.

Seen that little shadow creep up your feet?
Heard that eerie buzz in your ear?
The beginning's only a little treat,
Hurrah! Our looney is here.

Now that they know your sun's upside down,
They'll miss no chance to bite at you.
They'll put on your head a golden crown,
And make all your clothes light blue*.

Sometimes I think it's them who's mad
Fighting and killing their own like that!
It's them we're not like- you be glad.
At least we don't shoot our own pet cat!

Author's Note

*By light blue, I meant the colour of patients' gowns.

Love the imagery and humour in this well-written poem. Who is to say what "normal" is? Normal is very different for every one. You well-describe the stigma and bad treatment imposed on "loonies".your words are strong and I encourage you to be happy in yourself and not bother with people who "shoot our own pet cat!" Keep writing !

sometimes i think madness is the gravity that pulls others down to earth, while the rest of us float nameless, future-less...aimless...
being really insane, certified, might be the best way to cope with what the world has become...
i like this a lot...and am hiding my cat.
