A Poem by Nipplegrinder

I shall cleave and shelve
the shattered remnants
though tasting for remembrance
savoring their bitter beauty
and acrid lament
I will press a single rose petal
of the color of my choice
into each volume and recall
the reason for
I shall construct the shelf
sanding the rough cuts and saw marks
of this mahogany wealth
lacquer the sorrow and joy
and join them with the soul of the wood
As each volume is placed
I shall inspect it's bindings, spines, and pages
In reverence shall I shelve these volumes
Many thick
Others thin
Each bursting with knowledge or lessons learned
Though I may never read a single volume again
I will always stand in awe
of the shelf I contructed
and the chapters contained wherein

What a good way to store your memories! And it is very pleasing that you press a single rose petal into each volume, though you may never read them again!
Yes, all experiences, of sorrow or joy, should be stored away, and , as you so say, you can 'stand in awe' of them! I thought this was a really good poem, and I am going to take the advice given.

I love the metaphorical and intricate analogy if this piece of writing. An endless shelf containing the many chapters of life
