Cacophony

Cacophony

A Poem by Nipplegrinder

In that forest of grievance
trees taller than men
leave leaves on forest floor
leave towering trunks of
aged knowledge
fallen
as
soldiers.

Where roots entrench
Are souls
entombed
The soil blanket.

The wanderer left a treat
for the fauna.
Her footprints.

Shameless and barefoot,
the wanderer
ate of bushes berries
and shared with squirrels
the time of restful sighs.

The wanderer then came upon
a Miller's brook.
Its waters meandering.
Following the sound of
the brook
she heard the sound of gulls
and rushed to the cacophony.

Thousands of gulls
On the edge of a cliff.
She turned away.
Today
is another day.
