Cold Front

Cold Front

A Story by Nipplegrinder

The coffee shop was quaint. A mom and pop.
The coffee itself, incredible.
The banter, the laughs, the glances and gazes.
Easy.
Exposing a bit more of ourselves than before,
it felt right. Real.
This time together is exactly what we need.
Right now, right here. This moment.
We had shared lunch, a little shopping.
But this time, it was different.
More exposed, each of us.
Wants.
Desires.
Experiences.
Future.
Neither of us wanted to leave,
but life's entanglements and the relentless
hounding of time required us to part.
I walked you to your car.
I pulled you in close.
The kiss was deep, sensual, wet.
We both felt the tingle from head to toe.
The smiles on each of our faces after, genuine.
That kiss was hot.
You got in your car,
and I shut the door for you.
You drove away.
That's when the cold front moved in.
That's when the weather changed.
Not a seasonal shift,
but a slow moving cold front
that cast a pall.
Over you. Over us.
