Flowers

Flowers

A Poem by Nipplegrinder

He left flowers on her doorstep, time, and again.
They were always gone when he returned.
Always crestfallen, he continued to leave
flowers at her doorstep.
She went to prom with another.
Flowers at her doorstep.
She dated the latest fool, flowers at her doorstep.
She married someone not worthy of her,
flowers at her doorstep.
Have children with that man,
flowers at her doorstep.
Watched her children grow,
flowers at her doorstep.
Saw her slide from bliss,
flowers at her doorstep.
Watched her divorce that man,
flowers at her doorstep.
Hold her when she cried,
flowers at her doorstep.

I imagine that in some way,
even today
I'll always leave
Flowers at her doorstep.

Sounds like he needs to find another doorstep to leave flowers on where they will be appreciated more. Perhaps a house in the desert where flowers do readily grow so often. Enjoyed the read nonetheless.

Gee
Unrequited love ??
Must be soul destroying to love another, always be there for them, but know that a friend is all you'll ever be.
