Nocternal

Nocternal

A Poem by Sky
"

a revision of To Keep Time

"

The ticking of my watch tells me this

Time continues, sleep awaits

Though the endless hum of the walls, the fan

The computer tell me otherwise

The watch, in its wisdom, reminds

But to hold this moment, I listen

I imbibe the busy silence of the night

Stare into the glowing darkness as it waits

With soothing sounds as silent guards

Against the impending day

Drowned out amidst the quiet hums

Ticking watch and marking sun

Still progress to swallow up

What little dark is left to us

The night and nightly playing ones

False hope that day's assault be held at bay

By quiet sounds who whisk the time away

Very well done, Sky. I can feel the insomnia at the beginning and certainly appreciate the desire to stay in bed just one minute more. There is a little story here that appeals to me. A slice of life moment.
Good write.
