The Merry Go Round

The Merry Go Round

A Poem by Tammy

The merry-go-round spins and spins

Can you see them with their smiles and grins?

Ringing laughter in the air

Sun shining warm in the sky

A cool breeze blows trickling up your back

The merry-go-round spins and spins

Can you see this is how it will begin?

On the wind it howls a bitter sound

Bright light beating down

Sweat slicked thick upon skin

The merry-go-round spins and spins

Mama’s on the bench with a bottle in hand

The stares and glares turn to whispered prayers

Look at her all alone again

Guts knotted in a tight ball

The merry-go-round spins and spins

Smiles and grins turn to pins and needles once more

Deep sighs that agonize

Hot and uncomfortable

Stomach churns

As we spin round and round

On the merry-go-round…..
